DAVEN MASULIS

Singer-songwriter Daven Masulis is motivated by bringing people together and inspiring them to become their best selves.  He writes songs that cause people to think, and he finds fulfillment when his fans relate to and are moved by his music. Resembling the sounds of Coldplay, Oasis, and The Lumineers, a few of Daven’s influences include The Head and the Heart, Vance Joy, the Beatles, and Kings of Leon. The strong and passionate energy found in these artists’ music has impacted Daven’s own vocal expression, and his memorable melodies spark self-reflection and depth of emotion in his listeners.

The American folk rock artist’s first solo collection of songs is a melding of some of his old songs and a few new ones.  In fact, Daven wrote one of his songs, “Still Here,” when he was 15 years old. “It was a song I never thought would be brought back to life,” Daven reflects, “it was cool to go back and pull that song from my memory and record it.”  Having written his first song at the age of 13, Daven knew that music would be a significant part of his life, and now with the release of his first collection of songs as a solo artist, Daven has ventured off on his own into new territory.

By day, Daven systematically sets and achieves his work goals, which very much mirrors his musical pursuits.  “I feel invigorated when I achieve goals and overcome challenges, which is why when I write songs, I tend to steer toward analysis of my personal development,” Daven comments of his songwriting process.  Once he has momentum with a song, he lets the melody naturally take him where the emotion leads. During this process, the emotion-driven melody provides for the song’s lyrics; the lyrics, in turn, tell a story as they give rise to thoughts and feelings.
 

Daven currently writes, records, and performs in the band, Jacks and Atoms.  The band has performed for audiences with over 1,000 concertgoers.  He has opened for LANCO, played festivals in the midwest, and as well, played at Chicago’s Hard Rock Cafe. Daven says that one of his personally most significant gigs was when he played at a venue mere weeks after the Foo Fighters themselves played a surprise performance.  Daven found it to be thrilling knowing he may have performed one of the very songs the Foo Fighters played on that same stage just a few weeks prior.
